From an Internship to a Company

Everything began in May 2014: Back then I was 15 years-old and never before have I drunk wine. Organized by my school an internship in Portugal awaited me. For two weeks I was staying in Eira Queimada near Lamego and worked at Antonio Ehlert's winery. It was located in the famous Douro Valley, the world's oldest PDO vineyard.

With this internship I really struck it lucky since I am the son of an agriculturist. I was instantly welcomed as a part of their family. At first I was surprised by their passion and enthusiasm towards their job. No matter how hard the work may have been they invested so much time and energy in the cultivation of vine. Something I have never experienced in Germany. The motivation and love that went into their products soon infected me. I also realized that their wine and the used grapes were something extraordinary.

At the end of my internship Antonio Ehlert and Fernando Rodrigues (Best of Douro) asked me if I wanted to present their wines in Germany. Surprised and honored by the trust I received, I was not sure at first. However, after being treated so warmly by them I felt like I wanted to return the favor and continue to support them. Not only that, I wanted to give everyone in Germany the chance to experience the amazing taste of these one of a kind wines of the Douro region.

Thanks to the support of my family we were able to register our own company on August 1st, 2014. Studying custom regulations and a lot of paperwork followed. But on December 22th, 2014 the first pallets of wine and oil finally stood on our courtyard. Now we were able to supply our first customers in time for Christmas.

From that time on our product's outstanding taste and quality made the round. What followed was a constant growth in our clientele. Even convinced enthusiats of Italian and French wine would often buy our  Portuguese wines after a wine tasting.

Meanwhile, we offer products of several young vine-growers. In Germany these products are exclusively available at our company. We place special attention to this exclusiveness – alongside the excellent quality and taste. We only sell wine and oil whose producers we know personally. Thereby, we especially support the smaller vine-growers who partly have been producing by themselves for only a few years.
